To get to the Paging File Settings: Control Panel / System / Advanced Tab / Performance (Settings button) / Advanced Tab / Change Button (pretty well hidden, isn't it?)
Where should you put the Paging File? If you have more than one hard drive, put it on the fastest one. If you have only one hard drive with multiple partitions, put it on the largest partition.
How many Paging Files (commonly called "page files") should there be? XP sets one on each partition by default, but you only need one. Follow the above instructions on where to put it, then disable the others.
